Lagunatic seldom talks politics. Usually because I either don’t care, don’t pay attention enough, or have no idea what I’m talking about.
Today is a different kind of day, however, and I”m going to take a stab.
I’m annoyed at the GOP. You all know I’m a lefty, I mean, what else could I be with two European parents and a Canadian birth certificate? But, I’ve dated enough bankers and business people in my life to understand the fiscal arguments of the right (well, some of the fiscal arguments…ok, maybe only two).
Today I read this article posted by a friend on Facebook this morning and it got me thinking (never a good idea) about how the GOP seems to hate women and children. Maybe I’m beginning to drink that specific Koolaid because of their recent attempts to shut down Planned Parenthood and their bills in some states that could make having or providing an abortion punishable by death.
So, I think I have the answer to all of this. And, it is something that the GOPers could really get behind (and no, it isn’t that cute young bell hop in the next stall who’s tapping his foot).
I think we should have a law making it ILLEGAL for all MEN to engage in ANY heterosexual sex unless they agree that they will provide for the potential life their ejaculations may create.
I mean, it takes two, right?
If they are convicted they will either be sent to a privatized jail or they will have to perform community service for 30 hours a week AND have 50% of their regular FULL TIME income garnished to either pay for the child that was produced or pay for MILITARY spending if no child came of the encounter.
Women are the inarguable bearers of all thing reproductive related. Why not shake things up a bit and force men to take an active role in the decision to get down and dirty. I’m sick of the “Women don’t take enough responsibility for their own actions” argument. It’s bullshit and every politician who has ever stuck his penis in a woman out-of-wedlock should realize it’s bullshitedness too (I think that pretty much incorporates all of them, right?)
See, the GOP will be happy about the privatized jail bit because it won’t be funded by the tax payer, and they can invest in jails and turn a profit on these types of convicts. The GOP also loves all things military so any money going towards killing innocent people, oops, I meant defense is all good by them. And, finally they can all enjoy financial gains by investing in Trojan if this bill is passed.
Ok, rant over and issue solved.
Next problem?

There’s also a bill in Georgia that would institute investigations of all miscarriages, to determine whether the woman is to blame for the fetal death. The GOP has launched a full attack on women. Why are there any female Republicans? Can they really not see what is happening?

unfortunately holding persons responsible for their actions via force at law goes against every principle this country was founded upon

I’m almost there with you but different. I say if the female has the right to choose then the male has the right to choose not to financially support said child. I know no one will agree with me but that’s how I feel. If we keep treating 16 year old young women like they’re stupid, they’ll just keep acting stupidly. But for the adults who get themselves in these situations, so what, they’re adults, they should act like they know better or deal with the consequences. Alright now, here comes the hate mail…

I get what you’re saying, I’m just using an extreme example of how things could become a little more equal in light of all these crazy GOP ideas

Hi!, Just a couple of quick things. First the SD law was tabled on Feb. 17th. If you actually read the bill, they were ammending Sect 22-16-34 and …-35. The first would allow the mother of an unborn child to use deadly force to defend her unborn child against an attacker if she chose. For some rteason I really don’t see women who chose to go to an abortionist suddenly deciding to kil them to protect their baby. The second would allow an enumerated direct family member to do the same. Hmmm… Again, I really don’t see that many couples who decide to get an abortion attacking their DR., although I can see where this could be a problem in a troubled marriage.
As to shutting down federal funding for Planned Parenthood. Go right ahead. Planned Parenthood is no longer needed, its redundant now, we all have insurance under Obamacare, go to your own Dr. . It isn’t the constitutional function of the federal governmnet to provide Planned Parenthood funding anyway. It is a cake and eat it too situation. If Obamacare is legal, they are redundant. If Obamacare is illegal, they shouldn’t be funded either. Sorry PP, your time is up from this money source.

One last point. You are the one who said it takes two. Why is all the responsibility on the man? Men should have to pay 50% of a kids support. Prportionally adjusted between the ratio of his and her salaries. I could support that with no problem. One caveat. Men also get the right of abortion. There now things are truly equal.
Have a good week.

Thank you for being civil. Not that you wouldn’t be, but I’ve been on the ‘net long enough to be wary of opposition
I’m only going to argue one thing on your post and that is the idea of fairness between the sexes in regards to child rearing. The balance is so precarious and so fine as to be almost impossible. The man shows up for the thrill ride and then can stay or leave as he chooses (and, in fact, in some cultures he’d rather go on to spread more seed never looking back) but the woman is the one to carry the baby, deliver the baby, feed the baby, raise the baby, stay home from work when baby is sick, etc. etc. Did you see the articles regarding the journalist that was sexually assaulted in Egypt? The ones who said she never should have taken the assignment on in the first place seeing that she had young children at home?
No one has ever told a man that he should stay home from a dangerous job because he has young children at home.
Maybe someone should.
I do want to thank you for posting on my silly little blog, though. I’m frankly flattered that someone like you, who obviously cares deeply about the issues and does his due diligence felt it important to post here!
